Bird Watching

The Paracas National Reserve provides both shelter and food for several resident and migratory birds. The most common are: the Inca tern (Larosterna inca), guanay cormorant (Phalacrocorax bougainvillii), red legged cormorant (Phalacrocorax gaimardi), Peruvian booby (Sula variegata) and black skimmer (Rynchops niger).
There are also pelicans, sandpipers, plovers, oystercatchers, Andean condors and some endangered species such as the Humboldt penguin (Spheniscus humboldti), Peruvian diving petrel (Pelecanoides garnoti) and Chilean flamingos (Phoenicopterus chilensis).
It is definitely worth the trip to the Paracas National Reserve if you are a bird watcher!
